Nolan Mueller teaches art at a charter school in the Dallas area. Before teaching little kids, he went to the University of North Texas for Drawing/Painting and Ceramics. After graduating with two BFA degrees, he started substitute teaching for Denton ISD during the day and teaching adult painting classes in Southlake, Texas at night. When the opportunity to teach art full time came along Nolan was happy to take it and has loved every day of it. With summers off, he travels and works on his projects from murals and paintings to meat brining and building furniture.
The mural for the 42 Murals project is from a series where he paints portraits of people through the objects they choose to collect. It shows insight into them as a person because you see what choices they've made about what material things to prioritize. Mueller finds the subjectivity of sentimental value to really be a fun part of what makes us who we are. He is always looking to do more drawings, paintings, and murals, and would love to come sketch your things. It's a really neat way to get to know people.
